Ninderry - Saturday 4/11

Wed Oct 25, 2017 9:11 pm

NOTE: For this trip it is recommended that you are confident climbing grade 18 at least.

Mt Ninderry is also quite a sensitive area access wise, with grumpy locals surrounding the crag. As such, car pooling will have to be maximised, with as few cars as possible taken. Noise level is to be kept at an absolute minimum. No yelling and screaming like Ondra when you fall off the climb. Just accept your loss, and cry quietly instead. This is a serious issue, and anybody who threatens future access to the crag will not be high on the favourites list.

Ninderry is a relatively new sport climbing area, only bolted in the last 5 or 6 years. It is located a similar distance from Brisbane as Mt Coolum, but a bit further inland. The crag consists of a couple of areas, all facing different directions, which, combined with a surrounding of trees, gives relatively good shade all day.

The climbing at ninderry is an intermediate sport climber's heaven, with a large variety of routes, from grades 18 and up, but predominantly 21+. See

Car pooling will be organised after signup closes. Unless you have made other arrangements with your driver/passengers, meet at 7:15 at the KP lookout for a 7:30am sharp departure, aiming for arrival at the car park at around 9:30am. Drivers: please pay careful attention to the car parking directions on theCrag under the heading "Access Issues" at .

If you don't have a harness, helmet or other necessary climbing gear, you must organise to borrow club gear from a Quartermaster (Josiah Hess or Andrew Banks) by the Wednesday prior to the trip. Those without gear should request a seconder kit which contains a harness, helmet etc... There are a limited number of seconder kits so be sure to get in quick.

Other essentials are lunch and plenty of water. Passengers, please give your driver $5 each way to contribute to fuel costs. Be sure to bring insect repellent to this crag!
